A day in our School (B' Primary school of Pafos "Demetrion")

Our school, B' Primary School of Pafos "DEMETRION" is located at the very centre of our town. It was built in 1928. It is called "Demetrion" by the name of the downer Demetris Contstantinou who donated the money for the building. It is a neoclassic building and it looks exactly as an ancinet Greek Building.

In our school there are 180 pupils. We have 8 classes. (one first grade, two second grades, one third, one fourth, one fifth and two sixth grades).

As the majority of the schools in Cyprus we start our lessons on 7:30 in the morning and we finish on 13:05. We start early in the morning becouse of our weather and the daylight time. In Cyprus is mostly warm and the sun is rising very early all the year. Every day we have 2 periods of Greek and then 1 or 2 periods of mathematics. We also have, twice a week, science

art, physical education, music, history, technology, religion lesson, geography and English. Every day we have three brakes. The "big" one is from 9:05 til 9:25 and there two brakes of ten minutes on 10:45 and on 12:15. There is a small cantina in our school, where we can buy some snacks, juices etc. We dont have lunch at school.

We have a nive school yard and big play grounds (one for football, one for basket ball and one for volley ball). We are also playing a lot of other games.

Our school is participating in European programes too. We are taking part in Socrates-Comenius, etwinnining and eco-schools.

Our teacher is Mr. Nikos Lekkos. He was our teacher last year too. We call him "sir". Of course we have some visitor teachers as they called. They are teaching us the lessons left from Mr, Lekkos.

We have a great time at school. There is time for fun and a lot of interesting things to do.

"The Book week" by José Boenders

During this week (7th-17th of October 2009) the older students of our school (9 -12 years old) could take part of the competition of the best school reader. There were class rounds first and the best of the two students of each class were in the final school competition. The jury was formed by one student of each class and two teachers.
During the decision there was a funny food game eating gingercake!
And the winner was…..Ernst, a boy from our group. He’ll go to the next region round. Here are some impressions of this nice afternoon.

The theme of this national kids book week is:
“ Go to table, eat and eat sweets in books for kids.”
At home each pupil prepared a little snack for himself and one for the other and brought it to school.
During the opening we had a quiz and a nice song about food. After that some new books were handed out to each class. Then the pupils tried different delicious snacks made by pupils out of their own class.

Two towns, two countries, one civilization

Welcome to every body.

This is an eTwinnining Project. The partners of the project are B Primary School of Pafos (Cyprus) and R.K. Basisschool Bernardus of Saasveld (The Netherlands)

The pupils will try to present their towns and countries through the most popular cultural, religious and national events.
